Summary
This study examines how and under what conditions forest certification affects deforestation. The study uses unit-level panel data on deforestation, certification, regulatory permitting and geophysical and socioeconomic land characteristic. It also uses matched fixed effects models to identify how Forest Stewardship Council certification affects deforestation in Mexico.
