Summary

This study evaluated the impact of Rainforest Alliance certification to build more social and ecological systems, in this case, coffee growers in Santander, Colombia. The study used a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods based on interviews with key stakeholders and a household survey conducted with 86 households. This method was chosen to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of certification on livelihoods and ecosystems. The study showed that certification has important environmental benefits, which also improves the wellbeing of the farmers and their communities.
