Summary
Impact evaluation of sustainability standards is still a nascent field of enquiry and much can be learned from the design and implementation of ongoing evaluations to inform future work. Researchers active in this field have already made important contributions to our methodological learning. This methodological paper from ISEAL aims to make a contribution to this body of work by sharing insights and lessons learned from three ISEAL Alliance impact evaluations that completed their baseline in 2016 and are due for end line evaluation in 2019. The observations are targeted primarily at standards systems, and specifically their monitoring and evaluation (M&E) teams.
