Summary

This guidance note, the first in a series developed by Evidensia and ISEAL for the Knowledge Platform for Inclusive and Sustainable Food Markets (KISM), is part of the CGIAR Rethinking Food Markets Initiative. It explores key interventions for creating and promoting inclusive employment and decent work in agri-food systems, based on the initiative’s ‘Creating more and better employment in agrifood systems’ meta-study.

This note addresses the ongoing disadvantages women face in agri-food system employment and the inclusion effects of various interventions and policies targeting women. It also presents gender-sensitive analysis and action tools developed under the CGIAR HER+ initiative for voluntary sustainability systems. The document also suggests ways in which other agri-food actors can adopt similar actions.
