Summary
This report focuses on the issue of child labour in the cocoa sector in light of new legislation at the national and European level which will introduce new human rights due diligence obligations for companies along the cocoa supply chain. The report outlines how Private-Public Partnerships (PPPs) companies can support governments in cocoa-producing countries to enhance public services and social protection systems, as well as increase the coverage and effectiveness of Child Labour Monitoring and Remediations Systems (CLMRS). To tackle the poverty at the heart of the issue of child labour in the cocoa sector, the report recommends a holistic and collaborative approach is implemented by all actors involved in the supply chain.
