Summary
This report presents the lessons learned from the implementation of the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Standard on a coffee plantation in Tanzania. The project wanted to help the coffee plantation to better manage its water, improve its water quality and pollution and establish what are the costs associated with the implementation of AWS. The report finds that the implementation of the AWS standard is a cost-effective way to improve water security with benefits for the plantation and other important stakeholders. The local community also benefits from the fact that the large commercial enterprise which shares their water resources does this sustainably and equitably.
