Summary
This report examines the water risks of Vietnam's textile sector, to identify how water shortage will potentially impact the textile and garment sector in the next five years. The study is based on a desktop review and interviews with stakeholders and experts to determine the current and potential water risks and to determine the awareness and preparedness of sector stakeholders regarding water-related issues and risks. Conclusion of the report is a roadmap for NGOs, WWF and policy makers on how to address water risks. For example establishing a multi-sector collective dealing with the risks for the Lancang-Mekong river, engage factories in water saving practices and best-practice wastewater management and promote national reporting against sector-based standards.
