Summary
This paper examines the impact of Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification on the Kyoto Danish Seine Fishery Federation (KDSFF) in Japan. The researchers use structural break tests and integration tests, comparing the Kyoto market's monthly ex-vessel price of flat-head flounder with those in two adjacent markets that do not have certified fisheries. The results show a significant impact in the two months following certification, as well as a reduced influence of larger markets on the Kyoto market.
